The Pro Ludis et Amicitia - International youth football tournament

The first edition of the tournament dates back to 1988. It involved only 8 teams of the category Giovanissimi. In the following year, teams already became 16 and they were parted in 4 groups of 4, which disputed their qualifying matches on the football fields of four different sports centres.
Till the IX edition the tournament kept its features and then, in the X edition, it noteworthly changed: it enlarged to the younger categories (Esordienti, Pulcini and Primi Calci) for a total of 64 teams, equally represented in the four categories.
In the XII edition the list of teams, which took part in the tournament, reached the amazing number of 76. Among them there were 8 teams of the category Allievi and 4 women teams. International youth soccer tournament
For a few years, a stardard formula is adopted. It involves 64 teams of the four categories Giovanissimi, Esordienti, Pulcini and Primi Calci.
With this short summary about the tournament we wanted to show how the event has changed from its starting edition, always looking for the best settings and involving a lot of players. Only a couple of examples: till now about 10400 players took part in it; the number of spectators is nearly 60000 people.
Everybody knows that, since the first editions, the "Pro Ludis et Amicitia" Football Festival has been called "international" after due consideration. On its fields have played teams coming from all over Europe (France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden, Czech Republic, U.K.), from Israel and from Australia. The entire Italy has also been rapresented by teams coming from many regions: Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lazio, Campania, Calabria, Sicilia, Sardegna.
The organizers' main aim has always been only one: giving to the their players an occasion for meeting many other boys, on the field and outside, and comparing with them in a spirit of friendship and fair challenge.
That's why we always look at this tournament from a special point of view. We'd like to see over the results and the rankings.
In order to create a special friendly atmospheare, in the first years people coming from abroad finded warm hospitality by the italian players' families. It has been a good accasion for everybody to live an important human experience.
Because of the great number of players and staff and the increasing presence of parents in the last few years, it bacame more and more difficult to offer hospitality by families. Consequently the Committee has been forced to look for different overnight solution. This situation of course caused a lack by the side of human experience. But we found the way for involving a lot of boys and girls in the staff.
On the wave of their graet enthusiasm and their ideas, the organizers find every years the rush for developping new projects. The scepticism that followed the "young members" of the staff at the beginning of their participation has been totally denied by their hard work and serious care. Thank to them the Pro Ludis et Amicitia Fooball Festival is always a successful event.
Happy "Pro Ludis et Amicitia" to everybody!
